How long does yeast infection medication take to fully work?

I was ordained PMS-Fluconazole for fungal infection (a pill you take once) and I took it on Tuesday. The package says that the symptoms will be gone within a few days, and they are, but it says nothing about how long it takes to completely get rid of the infection. I know that you should not have sex while you have a yeast infection, so you do not pass it back and forth and I wonder if I’m ready for sex again, or how long I should wait. Any advice would be great.

    The information should come on the packaging or the instruction sheets for your prescription. You could always call the pharmacy- you don’t have to give your name, and they would be the best ones to answer that question. Or call your doctor. If it was me, I would definitly wait a week from the time I started the medicine. But I am not a doctor, I can’t give you the appropriate advice.

    there is little to no evidence supporting the theory that intercourse passes yeast infections back and forth. you can probably have sex now. use a condom if you are worried.

    It takes up to 7 days. But if I were you, use a condom. There are 7 day treatments that clear the infection better than the 3 day treatment

    I took the same pill and I have had an ongoing yeast infection that lasted for over a year. The symptoms disappeared in about three days. I was worried also that the pill wasn’t working since I was seeing no relief. But don’t worry, it takes effect and the infection goes away in less than a week.

    As for sex, try not to have any until your partner has been treated for an infection as well. Because the infection can transfer back and forth between you two and you’ll never see relief.

    In response to the other answer about the transfer in yeast infections, it can happen if you don’t use a condom. (I’m on the birth control pill) It’s currently happening to me right now and we’re both going to get treated together.
